Catching the Trade Winds

I am in the real world (almost)! As a recent college graduate I really didn’t expect that I would be trying to jump into the real world so quickly. But, as a lot of my friends and sorority sisters have all decided to jump ship and get careers I figure being a sun-tanning, boat-going, sleeping-beauty, type goddess is more so starting to look like a lazy piece of shit to the outside world. I guess when it comes down to it, sleeping until my room is so hot from the sun coming in like I live in some kind of greenhouse is starting to sound a bit painful. And at that rate, when people call it beauty sleep, I beg to differ. Beauty sleep is probably for those who live in air-conditioned basements with no windows to wake you up. In my case sleeping in is anything but beautiful. The temperature rises dramatically in my room. Death Valley doesn’t have shit on the inferno that exists in my terrarium, so sleeping in is just one hot mess. Moving onto the real world seems to be my only choice to make myself get out of bed and attack the day. So with help from a family member and one heck of a sloppy resume, I went in for an interview at the World Trade Center (Tacoma). Although it is the Tacoma branch I sometimes catch myself emphasizing only the WTC part and kind of mumbling Tacoma. Tacoma just isn’t quite as glamorous, in my opinion. But, it is in Tacoma and I do enjoy the whole idea of being in the real world. The unpaid real world. My expertise and fabulous insight and new work wardrobe at the new internship is not being compensated with money, I am at least building a resume, considering the gist of my resume was bartending and serving, this might make me shine a little brighter. And although my writing here is a bit jumbley, I managed to edit the World Trade Center web site as well as learn how to send out an invitation to about 1300 recipients. (lets hope I didn’t screw that one up!) And on top of getting to spend my day doing something I love (reading) I also got to figure out what the company actually does, and how neat the Tacoma branch actually is. So in all, Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30-3:30… don’t bother calling me. Ill be at the office. :)
